Our Branches

  • This branch is headed by CEO & Co-Founder Zack Paben aka Nubs. It focuses on all of the inner workings of the charity.

  • This branch is headed by Sir Joey McGlamory, our Director of Racing. This branch is the most visible of the MHTS branches. It focuses on Obstacle Course Racing, Outdoor Adventures, and Physical Challenges. It helps adaptive athletes and people with invisible scars get out there, get dirty while doing things they thought would ever be possible, to transform their lives. From Spartan Races to Tough Mudder OCRs, to helping an adaptive wheelchair athlete reach the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, this chapter works hands on reaching people’s goals.

  • This branch is headed up by our Co-Founder and Clinical Director, Wendy Paben-Gellman, and focuses on the overall mental and emotional well being of others. This branch provides support to our volunteers and adaptive athletes before, during and after events. It also allows us the opportunity to provide individual and group therapy to others who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it. Invisible scars often place heavy burdens on those that carry them and this branch offers individuals an outlet to process and work through those scars so that they no longer hold as much power over a person’s life.

  • This branch is headed by our Director of Ambassadors & Adaptive Athletes, Erika Bogan-Mtui and her husband Winford Mtui. It focuses on our first international branch, based in the Kilimanjaro Region of the United Republic of Tanzania, More Heart Than Scars- Tanzania.

More Heart Than Scars- Tanzania’s mission is “To empower Tanzanian families who have been affected by visible and invisible disabilities, by meeting basic needs like sustainable and safe housing and education. By easing these burdens, MHTS-TZ will make space for these families to learn ways to empower themselves through entrepreneurship and break the generational cycles of poverty for future generations.”
